Creativity is a recipe. Equal parts courage, can-do + curiosity. Today, we’re filling your curiosity bucket with a big dose of inspiration from some of our favorite podcasts.
We adore podcasts here at The Color Kind. What’s not to love? On-the-go access to the most inspirational speakers, innovative topics and quick A-HA moments. We’ve found motivation to start a new project, a trick to streamline our process and many new thinkers to follow on social media for their nuggets of wisdom.
Second Life - An all-access interview format podcast from Hillary Kerr, founder of Who What Wear, MyDomaine and other media must-knows. We love the girl-chat type vibe packaing big wows inspiring entrepreneurs and creatives on how they've navigated career and life changes and share their learnings with us. Two of our faves so far, Jen Gotch of Ban.do and stylist / blogger / TV star / designer Emily Henderson.
The Unmistakable Creative Podcast - Another interview-based podcast, this time from author Srinivas Rao. He's hosted candid conversations with over 500 thought-provoking leaders in creativity, business, technology + personal development. If you only have time to listen to one, start here.
Creative Mornings Podcast - You might be familiar with this creative lecture breakfast series, and this podcast builds on that format. Taking the best of their live sessions and sharing them in this podcast, this is a must listen for anyone pursuing a creative life. A few of our faves here and here.
Ted Radio Hour. We love this Guy Raz hosted show that brings Ted Talks from many different speakers, locations and topics together under one umbrella. Some of our faves on happiness, on play and the power of design.
Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations. Weekly chats with Oprah and notables from around the world spanning every topic imaginable. You’ll leave each chat inspired, hopeful and ready to make an impact in that way that only Oprah can inspire us all to do. Hard to choose where to start, as there are so many WOWs here, but some notable faves_ Lin-Manual Miranda on creativity and compassion and Cheryl Strayed’s Brave Enough chat.
The American Life. A weekly public radio program + podcast, this gem covers current topics through a mix of story + journalism. Hosted by Ira Glass, we love, love, love the format and listening each week. If you’re new to the show, start with this host-compiled must listen list.
Zig Zag. A obsession worthy newcomer to the podcast world, we love following along the journey of this start-up media company. Run by 2 women, friends, mothers and entrepreneurs, start here to fall in love from the first listen.
Magic Lessons. The podcast to accompany Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, which we wrote about last week takes the book and breaks it down into mini-creativity therapy sessions. Tackling one reader posed issue per session, and calling in expert advice to guide the creative journey. This listen will reinforce your fears, apprehension and worry around creativity WHILE inviting you to just start your journey. Not a bad listen in the bunch, we’d recommend starting at the beginning and going through in order.
